Compass card

Dry compass.

Card: Mica covered with paper, white with black markings, graduated to 1/4 points and quadrantally in degrees. N point indicated by a five-pointed star. Fitted with a course indicating pointer 8.6" (22.0 cm) long which can be clamped in any required position by means of a boss which carries the jewel cup.

Needle: Two edge bar needles 9.8" (25.0 cm) long with round ends are attached to the card by means of a light brass framework.

Pivot: Cone shaped brass pivot cup with red jewel at the top secured at the centre of centre strut of framework which secures the needles to the card.
