Dry compass

Card: A paper card attached to a metal circumference and to metal centre by silk threads. The paper is white with black markings graduated to points and quadrantally in degrees.

Pivot: A plain aluminium "washer" which holds the silk threads.

Needle: The eight needles, in four sets of two, are thin. They are suspended beneath the card by a different silk thread system to that of the card. Lengths 2.75", 2.5", 2.25" & 1.75" (7.0 cm, 6.3 cm, 5.7 cm & 4.5 cm)
