Liquid compass
Card: A mica band 1.5" (3.8 cm) wide attached to the needles by a wire framework. It is white with black markings graduated to eight points and 0 - 360 in degrees.
Needle: The four needles, in two pairs, are attached to the dome, one pair going straight through it. The needles are each held in metal tubes. Lengths 2 x 3.5" (8.9 cm) & 2 x 5.25" (13.4 cm)
Pivot: The pivot cap is incorporated into the domed float and the jewel can be removed by a screw on the top of the dome.
The base of the float is corrugated and there are soldered weights attached to the wire framework.
