Miniature zinc time-ball
Miniature zinc time-ball on brass staff, mounted on a wooden base. Probably made in Clerkenwell and was formerly in the London offices of the clockmaking firm Gledhill Brook Ltd, Victoria Street, circa 1900-20. It operated by a signal from the Standard Time Co. It signalled each hour, rising to the top of the mast at five minutes to the hour and dropping precisely on the hour.
