Compass card

Dry Boats compass card
Card-Mica covered with paper. Black with white markings graduated to 1/4 points and quadrantally in degrees. The degree markings start with 0 degrees at East and West and have the 90 degree point at North and South. Has a decorated East point. Makers name at centre around pivot cap.
Needle-Flat edge bar needle which tapers outwards from the centre to near the ends, where it rounds off gradually to flattened ends, this being a feature of Syeds' card needles, length 4.75" (12cm).
Pivot-Cone-shaped brass pivot cap with large jewel at top.
