Dry compass
Card-Mica covered with paper, painted green with black markings. Graduated to 16 points, edge of card graduated quadrantally in degrees. Fitted with a brass rim, graduated to 20' of arc.
Needle- Flat bar type, 6.25" (15.9cm) long, with pointed ends and is fitted with two soft iron sliding weights. Each end of needle rests on semi-circular strip of brass, securing needle to card. a hole is provided at centre to accommodate pivot cap.
Pivot- Cone-shaped brass cap fitted with jewelled pivot at top, mounted at centre of card and screwed through hole in needle.
