Dry compass
Card- Mica covered with paper. White with black markings, graduated to 1/4 points and graduated quadrantally in degrees.
Needle- Single edge bar needle 7.5" length and made up of two laminations of rolled and hammered clock spring steel, each being shaped to a semi-circle at its centre, thus forming a circular aperture through which the pivot passes to engage in the cup.
Pivot- Said to be of ruby-unsighted.
