Dry compass

Card- Mica covered with paper. White with black and white markings, graduated to 1/4 points and quadrantally in degrees.
Needle- Four light compound needles made of two laminations of steel, grouped near the centre of card 0.6" apart, 2 x 7.2" and 2 x 7.4" long. Attached to a light metal ring which is screwed to card. A light brass cross frame, attached to the two inner needles, is fitted at centre to carry pivot.
Pivot- Small cone-shaped brass pivot cap with jewel at top, secured to centre of cross frame.
