Dry compass

Card- Mica covered with paper. White with black and white markings, graduated to 1/4 points and quadrantally in degrees.
Needle- Four light compound edge bar needles made of two laminations of steel spaced 1.8" apart, 2 x 7.25" and 2 x 4.8" long. Attached to a light metal ring which is screwed to card. A brass cross frame, attached to the inner two needles, is fitted at centre to carry pivot cap. Below the cross frame is a brass strip with a small aperture through which the pivot passes to the cap.
Pivot- Small cone-shaped brass pivot with a jewel at top, secured to centre of cross frame.
