Dry compass

Card-Mica covered with paper, white with black markings, graduated to 1/2 points and has decorated East point.
Needle- Single flat bar needle 4.5" long and carries two sliding weights. Has hole at centre for pivot. A brass bar of same dimensions as needle and weights is fitted in E-W direction.
Pivot- A jewel is fitted at top of brass stem 0.5" above card and the centre of the needle carries a brass strip with a small aperture through which the pivot passes.
