Dry compass
Card-Mica covered with paper, white with black and white markings, graduated to 1/4 points.
Needle- Single steel needle, 6.5" long, T-shaped with the vertical fin cut away at centre to accommodate the jewel cap. The centre of needle is slightly expanded.
Pivot- The jewel cap is carried in a bras stem 0.5" above face of card and the centre of the needle carries a brass disc with a small aperture through which the pivot passes to engage in the cup. Two brass arms carrying sliding weights are fitted in an E-W direction.
