Dry compass

Card-Mica covered with paper, blue with blue and black markings, graduated to 1/4 points and quadrantally in degrees.
Needle- Six light edge bar needles, of rolled and hammered steel. Two central needles 7.15" long, each of two laminations, 0.5" deep at ends, having a semi-circular swell at centre 1.5" deep, a semi-circular piece has been cut out of each. The other needles are 2 x 6.5" and 2 x 5.25" long and composed of one thin strip of steel. The central needles are mounted 2" apart and the others 0.75". All attached to a light metal ring which is screwed to card.
Pivot- Cone-shaped brass pivot cap with jewel at top screwed through centre of light framework which has two short arms secured to the two inner needles and two long arms attached to the metal ring of card.
