On the reverse is a plan showing the half-breadth of the quarterdeck for 'Cumberland' (1842), a 70-gun Third Rate, two-decker, illustrating the positions of the cathead, anchor and beak.
NMM, Progress Book, volume 6, folio 195, states that 'Boscawen' (1844) was being built at Woolwich Dockyard between January 1826 and her launch on 3 April 1844. She was then moved to Sheerness Dockyard, arriving on 4 April 1844 to be fitted for ordinary, which was completed on 26 September 1848. 'Boscawen' arrived at Chatham Dockyard on 3 February 1851 to be fitted as a guard ship, completing on 16 May 1851.
