Compass card

Dry compass

Card: Mica covered with paper, white with black markings, graduated to quarter points and quadrantally in degrees, has decorated E point. Has royal coat of arms at N point.

Needle: Two edge bar needles with rounded ends 6.0" long, 0.4" deep, 3.0" apart. Mounted on two light bars secured between ends of needles and screwed to card. There is a brass stiffening ring near the outer edge.

Pivot: Cone shaped brass pivot cap with jewel at top, screwed through centre plate of bracket having two short arms which are attached to the two needles.
