Dry compass

Card: The paper band is attached to the metal circumference and also to the centre by silk thread. The card is white with black markings graduated to eight points and quadrantally in degrees.

Pivot: Consists only of an aluminium "washer" which holds the silk threads.

Needle: The six needles, in 2 sets of 3, are thin. They are slung beneath the card by an independent silk thread system.
Lengths 1.25", 1.0" & 0.75" (3.2 cm, 2.5 cm & 2.0 cm)
