Dry compass

Card: Mica covered with paper, white with black markings, graduated to half points and quadrantally in degrees, decorated East point.

Needle: Flat bar type with rounded ends 5.0" (12.7 cm) in length. The centre of needle expands to provide aperture for pivot cap. The centre part of needle has a piece of white card pasted over it.

Pivot: Cone shaped brass cap with jewel at the top, screwed through aperture at centre of needle.
