Liquid compass - submarine?
Liquid compass for use in projector binnacle
Bowl: Grey painted brass, filler plug at side, expansion chamber at top. Both bottom and top of bowl are glazed. Upper verge glass partly painted over with blue paint. Two lubber lines are engraved on the lower verge ring.
Card: Dia 1.75" (4.5 cm). Black-painted mica ring with clear rim and black markings graduated to 360 degrees. Attached to black painted float by black plastic? framework.
Needle: Two 1.25" (3.2 cm) long needles of circular section mounted below float.
Pivot: Unsighted , but pivot stem can be seen secured at centre of lower verge glass, which also carries a brass spigot.

In wooden box 4.5" x 4.5" x 4.0" (11.4 x 11.4 x 10.2 cm)
