Liquid compass and binnacle

Liquid compass with dwarf binnacle. Inscribed on both the verge ring and the binnacle is the following: 'PATT. 01151A Compass no. 4565K'.

Bowl: Grey painted brass, filler plug at side, expansion chamber at base incorporated with glazed bottom. Inside of bowl white with a black lubber line carried on a white plastic strip. Mounted in binnacle by a spring suspension anti-vibration system (unsighted)

Card: Dia 3.75" (9.5 cm) white mica? with black markings, graduated to 360 degrees. The card carries two black lines in the form of a cross. Mounted NE-SW and NW-SE. Attached to a black painted float at centre.

needle: Unsighted.

Pivot: Unsighted.

Binnacle: Diameter 7.5" (19.0 cm) Grey painted brass fitted with hood which has an oval glazed aperture at aft side, carrying handle at top and an oil lamp at the side.
