Kinsale (1741)
Scale: 1:48. Plan showing the body plan, sheer lines with inboard detail, and longitudinal half-breadth for Kinsale (1741), a 1733 Establishment, 44-gun Fifth Rate, two-decker. The annotation relating to the plan being returned and the Contract void, does not support current research that records Bird built Kinsale at Rotherhithe. No contract for Kinsale survives in the Museum collection.
Signed by Jacob E. Acworth [Surveyor of the Navy, 1715-1749].
NMM, Progress Book, volume 2, folio 301, states that the 'Kinsale' was begun on 14 January 1741 at Rotherhithe by Mr Henry Bird, and launched 27 November 1741. Therefore, this relates to when she was originally ordered.
