Liquid compass - submarine
Liquid compass for use in submarine projector binnacle.
Bowl-Grey painted brass, filler plug at side and expansion chamber at base incorporated with glazed bottom of bowl. Inside of bowl painted white with black wire lubber pointer projecting from side.
Card- Dia. 2.5" (6.4cm) clear plastic with black markings, graduated quadrantally in degrees and to 360o. Attached to grey plastic float at centre.
Needle- Ring magnet fitted in float (unsighted).
Pivot- Brass pivot stem, secured to bridge mounted across base of bowl, carries a steel pivot point which engages in jewelled conical pivot cup at centre of float.
