Bearing Plate

Bowl-Grey painted brass with opaque glass bottom. Inside of bowl painted black with black wire lubber pointer projecting from side. A grey painted knurled brass knob is mounted at centre of verge glass to turn the dumb card. Mounted in grey painted brass gimbal ring 6.5" (16.5cm) dia. Grey painted "U" shaped mounting bracket stowed in box.
Card- Dia. 3.25" (8.2cm) black painted mica with white and black markings, graduated to 8 points and quadrantally in degrees with a second mirror image set of graduations. Card turned by milled knob at centre of verge glass.
Azimuth circle-Dia. 5.25" (13.3cm) grey painted brass, fitted with prism and having a black engraved vertical line at centre and "V" sight at top, adjusted by milled knob at side. Fitted with two semi-circular dark shades, a black glass reflector, and a spirit level. A counter-balance weight is fitted on the circle opposite the prism.
