Liquid compass and binnacle - submarine?
Bowl-Inverted, filler plug at side, expansion chamber at top. Inside of bowl white with black wire lubber line attached to side. Mounted in projector binnacle.
Card- Dia. 3.75" (9.5cm), white mica (?) with black markings, graduated on underside quadrantally in degrees (mirror image). Float on upper side (unsighted).
Needle-Two magnets of circular section 1.5" long, attached below card on wire framework.
Pivot-Brass stem, attached to bridge at bottom of bowl, carries pivot point which engages in jewelled cup at centre of float.
Binnacle-Dia. 7.5" (19cm), grey painted brass, upper part fitted with a high-domed cover containing corrector magnets. At centre are two brackets to take corrector spheres (missing). Lower part has an extension tube which is cut away to accommodate a silvered steel adjustable mirror. Attached to a grey painted bulkhead mounting bracket.
