Liquid compass and binnacle

Bowl- Grey painted brass, filler plug at side, exapnsion chmaber at base incorporated with glazed bottom. Inside of bowl painted white with black lubber line projecting from side. Mounted in a grey painted brass gimbal ring 6.25" (15.9cm) dia. secured in binnacle.
Card- Dia. 3.25" (8.3cm) Black painted mica (?) with cardinal points marked in white. The outer edge of card is white with black markings and graduated quadrantally in degrees with a second mirrored set of graduations for use with an azimuth circle. Attached to black painted float at centre.
Pivot-Unsighted but stem can be seen to bridge mounted across bottom of bowl.
Binnacle-Dia. 7.5" (19cm) Grey painted brass, and varnished wood, hood fitted with handle and two oval glazed apertures. Fitted with two athwartships brackets and correction spheres, four degauzing coils and an electric supply junction box. An electric lamp socket is fitted at side, access to bulb and vertical correction magnets is by sliding door at fore side. Access to fore and aft magnets is by small hinged door on fore and aft sides. A gimbal ring is fitted at top of binnacle. Ascew operated dimmer switch is fitted at after side. Flinders Bar 11.5" (29.2cm) is fitted on fore side.
