Cole's universal sun compass

Consists of a copper (?) disc 8.75" diameter, graduated to 360 degs around outer edge. At centre is an elongated slit which enables disc to be slid bodily allowing for declination, being set by a time scale. A table of equations of time, instructions to find Meantime and night use are engraved on disc. A gnomon (shadow pin) is fitted at centre with a shadow pointer marked for S latitude only ( a pointer for N latitude is carried in a clip on underside of disc as are 11 spare shadow pins). A spirit level is fitted at edge of disc.
Mounted on a black painted brass gimbal mounting bracket which is attached to wooden stand 10 x 10" (25.4 x 25.4cm)
