Liquid compass

Bowl-Grey painted alloy, filler plug at side, expansion chamber incorporated with glass bottom of bowl. Base of bowl carries a heavy balancing ring. Inside of bowl silvered with two black lubber lines carried on bright metal strips secured to side 180 degs apart. Mounted in a grey painted brass gimbal ring 12" (30.5cm) dia.
Card-Dia. 7.5" (19cm) Unpainted aluminium, graduated to 360 degs by perforations around edge of card. Attached to an aluminium float at centre.
Needle- Four needles 2 x 2.5" (6.4cm), 2 x 3" (7.6cm) mounted below float.
Pivot-Pivot stem can be seen attached to aluminium bridge mounted across bottom of bowl, the rest unsighted.
