Liquid compass and binnacle

Bowl-Dia. 9.75" (24.8cm) Black painted brass, filler plug at side, expansion chamber at base incorporated with glazed bottom of bowl. Balancing weight attached to bottom. Inside of bowl painted white with two black lubber lines carried on white strips attached to sides. Fitted with a semi-circular magnifying prism carried on a black painted brass framework attached to verge ring. Mounted in a black painted gimbal ring 11.75" (29.8cm)dia.
Card-Dia. 7.5" (19cm) White painted aluminium with preforated graduations, graduated to 8 points and to 360 degs, attached to a white painted float at centre.
Binnacle-Dia. at top 14.5" (36.8cm), dia. at base 6.5" (16.5cm). Grey painted brass with brass fittings. Fitted with sphere brackets and spheres, "Flinders Bar" 25.5" (64.8cm) long. Corrector coils are fitted to the spheres, and H.E. coils around the top of the binnacle. A resistance box is fited at base. A sliding door at side gives access to geared horizontal and vertical corrector magnet mechanism.
Hood-Grey painted brass with large oval glazed aperture on one side and a sliding shutter on the other, an electric/oil lamp bracket is mounted to top.
