Liquid compass and binnacle

Bowl-Dia. 9.75" (24.8cm) Grey painted brass, filler plug at side, expansion chamber at base incorporated with glazed bottom, base fitted with a heavy balancing ring. Inside of bowl painted white with two black wire lubber lines mounted on side. Mounted in a grey painted brass gimbal ring 11.75" (29.8cm) dia.
Card-Dia. 7.5" (19cm) White painted aluminium with black markings, graduated to 360 degs. attached to a large black float at centre.
Binnacle-Dia. at top 14.5" (36.8cm), dia. at base 6.5" (16.5cm). Grey painted brass with brass fittings. Fitted with sphere brackets and spheres, "Flinders Bar" 25.5" (64.8cm) long. A sliding door at side gives access to geared horizontal and vertical corrector magnet mechansim. Corrector coils are fitted quadrantally and are knwon as G coils. Two type A resistance boxes are fitted as would be used for M and F coils.
Hood-Grey painted brass with large oval glazed aperture on one side and a sliding shutter on the other, an oil/electric lamp bracket is mounted to top (lamp missing).
Azimuth Circle-Black painted brass with white markings, graduated to 360 degs. A hinged sight vane 3.25" (8.2cm) long, with slit and "V" notch at top is mounted at 180degs position on circle. A 90 degs prism with spirit level below, and a hinged open frame 5.5" (14cm) long, with thread and black glass reflector are attached above, mounted at 0o position. A 90degs prism with spirit level below is mounted at 270degs position. A mirror in a black painted brass frame is mounted on a bracket at 90degs position.
