Boat's Liquid Compass and Binnacle

Bowl- Black painted brass, filler plug at side, expansion chamber at base. Inside of bowl painted white with two black painted lubber lines. Mounted in a black painted brass gimbal ring 6.75" (17.2cm) dia. attached by "Y's" to side of binnacle.
Card-Dia. 5" (12.7cm) white painted mica with black markings, graduated to 360 degs. and attached to large white painted float at centre.
Needle-Four needles of circular section 2 x 3.5" (8.9cm), 2 x 4" (10.2cm) mounted below card.
Binnacle-Square 8.5" x 8.5" x 14"(21.6 x 21.6 x 35.6cm. Black painted copper (?) Hood of binnacle has a 7.5" x 5.5" (19.5 x 14cm) window at front and an electric light is fitted at side. Fitted with corrector spheres (one missing) on screwed rods. Dia. of sphere 3.5" (8.9cm). Containers for corrector magnets are fitted to three sides, these consist of tubular containers fitted with spring clips to retain magnets in place. A carrying handle is attached to top of hood.
