Boat's Liquid Compass

Bowl-Grey painted brass, filler plug at side, expansion chamber at base. Inside of bowl painted white with four black lubber lines on side. Mounted in grey painted gimbal ring 6.25" (15.9cm) dia.
Card-Dia. 4" (10.2cm) Annular mica painted white, with black markings graduated to 1/4 points. Attached by two magnets to pivot at centre.
Needle-Two flat bar needles of circular section 3" (7.6cm) long, attached to underside of card and which have the pivot cap attached at their centre.
Pivot-Unsighted but jewelled pivot cap is mounted at centre of card of the two magnets.
