Unamed 135ft Frigate (not built)
Scale 1:48. Plan showing the body plan with stern board outline, sheer lines with some inboard detail, longitudinal half breadth with modifications, for an Unamed 135ft Frigate (not built p 1741). This plan shows some similarities to the 1745 Est 24-gun war ships with the lower deck gun ports. However, it is much larger than any of the Frigates, being closer to the 44-gun, two-decker ships of the 1745 Establishment.
Robert Gardener notes in 'First Frigates' (Conway Maritime Press, 1992), page 28, that this plan shows a number of Thomas Slades hallmark designs, which would date the plan around 1755 to 1757 when the designs were shifting from the 44-gun, two-deckers and 24-gun towards frigates.
