Signed J. Hounslow (Master Shipwright, Plymouth Dockyard 1775-1784)
NMM, Progress Book, volume 5, folio 301, states that 'Mermaid' was docked at Plymouth Dockyard on 24 February 1776, graved, and undocked on 4 July 1776. She sailedon 25 August 1776 having been fitted and undergone 'Small Repears'. She was "lost by running ashore to avoid falling into Enemy's Hands. Aug't 1778."
