Dart (1796)

Scale: no scale. Plan showing the proposed alterations and additions to the outboard profile for the waterline rubbing plank, and the inboard profile for altering the height of the sliding keel cases and the movement of the hawse holes and steering wheel, as well as the alterations to the bowsprit sand catheads for Dart (1796), a 20-28-gun Ship Sloop fitted with sliding keels. The plan shows the ship as built at Redbridge, Southampton, in 1796, and fitted at Portsmouth between October 1796 and February 1797.

Signed by Samuel Bentham [Inspector of Naval Works]. He also designed the Dart and its sister ship Arrow, launched in 1796 from the same yard.

NMM, Progress Book, volume 5, folio 656, states that 'Dart; arrived at Portsmouth Dockyard on 18 October 1796 and was docked on 20 November. She sailed having been fitted on 27 February 1797. She was further refitted at Portsmouth between June and December 1797.
