Lyme (1748)
Scale: 1:48. Plan showing the inboard profile and plan for the forepart (main bitts to the stempost) of Lyme (1748), a 24-gun (later 28-gun) Sixth Rate frigate building at deptford Dockyard. The plan has references to identify the various interior features on the lower deck. This plan, along with ZAZ3597 are the proposals sent by Mr Holland (Master Shipwright, Deptford). ZAZ3595 is the Navy Office copy that incorporates the alterations.
NMM, Progress Book, volume 2, folio 381, states that an Admiralty Order dated 2 August 1748 was issued to call the new ship 'Lyme'. She was begun at Deptford Dockyard on 24 September 1747 and launched on 10 December 1748. The 'Lyme' sailed on 8 February 1749 having been fitted at a total cost of £12,282.0s.1d.
