Libellen-Oktant
The sextant has a casing of grey-lacquered aluminium and artificial materials, with black plastic fittings. This houses optical equipment, a clockwork averaging mechanism, electrical equipment, and a rubber eyecup. The instrument has two index shades in green and red. The sextant is contained in a rectangular grey-lacquered aluminium case with a reflecting flat, whose mirror is missing, a light bulb, a plastic suspension strap, instructions for use and a contents list in German. The telescope and various parts are missing.
The scale on the sextant is marked from 0° to 80° by 30 arcminutes.
This instrument has been identified as a sextant, because it measures between 106 and 135 degrees. The iventor, however, identified the object as an octant.
