Libellen-Oktantv
The sextant has a casing of grey-lacquered aluminium and artificial materials, with black plastic fittings. It houses optical equipment, a clockwork averaging mechanism, electrical equipment, and a rubber eyecup. The instrument has two index shades in red and green.
The scale on the sextant is marked from 0° to 80° by 30 arcminutes.
The sextant is contained in a grey-lacquered wooden carrying case containing a reflecting flat, four light bulbs and assorted pieces of electrical equipment, as well as instructions for use and a contents list in German. The case is marked on the outside, ‘Gerät Nr: 127-134B’.
This instrument has been identified as a sextant, because it measures between 106 and 135 degrees. The iventor, however, identified the object as an octant.
