Reflecting circle
The reflecting circle consists of a circular anodized brass frame and yellow-lacquered index arm, with two wooden handles. A third handle, which is missing, can be screwed into the back of the frame. The tangent screw, which is badly damaged and incomplete, is at the bottom of the index arm. The clamping screw, also missing, is on the back. The instrument has six half-glass shades, two green and four red. The index glass and horizon prism are non-adjustable.
Attached to the circle is a magnifier on an approximately 140mm hinged swivelling arm, which is bent and damaged, serving both verniers. There is also a threaded telescope bracket with perpendicular adjustment made by a rising-piece and a milled knob. The telescopes, unidentified parts and the box are missing. The reflecting circle is in very poor condition.
The instrument has a brass limb with an inlaid silver scale indicated from 350° to 0° to 130°, and from 180° to 290°, although almost the entire scale is divided by 10 arcminutes. The reflecting circle has two silver verniers measuring to 10 arcseconds, with the zeros at the right.
