Sonobuoy compass
Sonobuoy compass
Aluminium casing containing compass.
Information supplied by ACO:
ACO design for use in the Directional Radio Sonobuoy MK 1.A/B & C. Liquid filled compass (white spirit). Heading information derived from variable capacitance pick-off, range 12 picoFarads to 32 pF which, in conjunction with an oscillator, produces a frequency range of 28.5 kHz to 31.5 kHz corresponding to magnetic headings of 011deg. to 347deg. Originally manufactured at Messers S.G.Brown Ltd, Watford, 1949 - 1969, now produced by Hawker Siddley Dynamics. (Notes containd inside casing, in envelope)
