Liquid compass

Bowl: Brown plastic, filler plug at side, expansion chamber at base. Inside of bowl painted with four black lubber lines carried on bent white plastic strips secured to base of bowl. Verge ring is black plastic, and is fitted with an electric lamp. Verge glass is hemi-spherical.

Card: Diameter 4.7" (12.0 cm) Annular white plastic with black markings, graduated to 360 degrees, connected by cruciform plastic float to pivot at centre.

Needle: Two needles of square section encased in plastic attached to underside of float.

Pivot: Plastic pivot stem secured to base of bowl carries a pivot point which engages in jewelled pivot cup carried at centre of float.

Binnacle: Diameter 12.2" (31 cm) brown plastic fitted with correctors of the scissor type in base and thin pieces of soft iron for correcting quadrantal deviation. Fitted with a brown plastic hood having a cricular glazed aperture with cover and shutters. Hood fitted with an electric lamp.
