Dry compass

Card: White paper band set on a light aluminium frame work. The card is white with black markings graduated to 1/2 points and quadrantally in degrees. The quadrantal markings are for use with a prism. There is a small weight on paper.

Pivot: Aluminium and jewel pivot set at centre of two diameters.

Needle: The six needles in two sets of three are slung beneath the card and in between the pivot and a circular construction. The needles appear to be suspended in that position by threads which formed a diameter on the E-W axis. There are screw attachments to tighten or slacken off the threads. Length of needles 2.5", 2.25", 2.0" (6.3 cm, 5.7 cm, 5.1 cm)
