Utile (captured 1799)
Scale: 1:48. Plan showing the body plan, stern board outline, sheer lines with inboard detail for Utile (captured 1799), a captured French brig, as taken off at Portsmouth Dockyard, before being fitted as an 18-gun brig sloop.
Signed by Edward Tippett [Master Shipwright, Portsmouth Dockyard, 1793-1799].
Date: NMM, Progress Book, volume 5, folio 788, states that the 'Utile' arrived at Portsmouth Dockyard on 11 April 1799 and had her copper repaired between 12-16 August 1799. It is likely therefore that this is an 'as taken off' plan.
