Steady (1797); Courser (1797); Defender (1797)

Scale: 1:48. Plan showing the body plan, sheer lines with inboard detail and midship framing, and longitudinal half-breadth for Steady (1797), Courser (1797), and Defender (1797), all 2-gun and 10-carronade Gunbrigs to be built by Messrs Hill & Mellish at Limehouse. These gunboats were fitted with two Schank's 'sliding keels' (daggerboards).

The Admiralty Stamp states Furious (1797) for this plan. However, while of the same design, she was built by Perry at Blackwall and not by Hill & Mellish.

Signed John Henslow [Surveyor of the Navy, 1784-1806] and William Rule [Surveyor of the Navy, 1793-1813].
