Lizard (1744); Hinchinbrook (1745); Badger (1745)
Scale: 1:48. Plan showing the body plan, inboard profile, and longitudinal half-breadth for building a new sloop at Bursledon. There are three ships built at Bursledon to the measurements on the plan (Merlin class), the first ordered being Lizard. All three vessels were 10-gun 30-oared sloops.
Date: NMM, Progress Book, volume 2, folio 534 states that Lizard was launched at Ewer's Yard, Bursledon on 22 December 1744, and arrived at Portsmouth Dockyard on 28 December. She sailed on 14 February 1745 having been fitted.
NMM, Progress Book, volume 2, folio 520 states that Hinchinbrook was launched at Janvrin's Yard, Bursledon on 8 March 1745, and arrived at Portsmouth Dockyard on 16 March. She sailed on 17 April 1745 having been fitted.
