Unnamed 55ft 1-gun gunboat (circa 1841)
Scale: 1:24. Body plan, midship section with diagonal planking, sheer lines with inboard detail, and longitudinal half-breadth with deck detail, for a 55ft 1-gun gunboat built for the flotilla at Bermuda. There are pencil annotations on the profile.
Signed by William Symonds [Surveyor of the Navy, 1832-1848]
A copy of this with sails and scantlings was sent to Canada on 18 August 1841.
Annotation: 'The Model of this boat was sent to Portsmouth to Sir Thomas Hastings [naval officer & inventor, 1786-1870]. 24 May 1843 by Order of Sir George Seymour [Third Naval Lord], 1841-1844].'
