Quest (1917)

Scale: 1:48. Plan showing the original upper deck and fore & aft accommodation layout for the Quest (1917), a Norwegian sealer, prior to being converted to an exploration ship for the Shackleton-Rowett expedition to the Antarctic in 1921. The conversion was undertaken at the Woolston Yard of John I Thornycroft.

The vessel was classed as a steam yacht under the Royal Yacht Squadron flag (Frank Wild's account states "Sir Ernest received what he considered the greatest honour of his life. The Quest as his yacht was elected to the Royal Yacht Squadron. Perhaps a more ugly, businesslike little “yacht” never flew the burgee, and her appearance must have contrasted strangely with the beautiful and shapely lines of her more aristocratic sisters.")
