NMM, Progress Book, volume 6, folio 503, states that 'Indus' was fitted at Devenport Dockyard in 1844 as an 'Advance Ship' and was refitted at Devonport Dockyard in 1856-1857. However, there is no mention of such alterations to her prior or post these dates.
