Fragment of a dark brown linen flag. On attached paper label 'Part of the flag found by George Nathaniel Broke RN on "The Muezzin's Tower" (query minaret) at St Jean d'Acre on the 5th November 1840 after the capture of that stronghold by the British and Austrian fleets on the 3rd Inst. NB Lieut G. N. Broke was Senior Lieut of H.M.S. Wasp and received his promotion (for this action) dated 4 Novr 1840'. Fragment only remains.
