La Bretagne (1886)

A port side view, taken from ahead of the beam, of the French hospital ship La Bretagne (1886) aground at Mudros in the period 1915-1918. She has a slight list to port and a large 2-funnelled tug is close to her stern. A copy negative that is cracked on the left hand side.
This negative was originally catalogued as the Alesia at Madras but the La Bretagne was not renamed Alesia until June 1919 and she was laid up at the time and never re-entered service. The hills in the background confirm that the location is Mudros and not Madras.
