A 12 x 10 negative. Approximately 1300 officers and men of the Chilean Navy on board the Chilean Navy transport Angamos (1890) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. They are gathered on the port side of the aft well deck and the superstructure looking aft at the photographer who is on the poop. This negative is almost identical to negative number G953. A report in the 28 September 1896 edition of "The Times" newspaper states "The Angamos, under the command of Rear Admiral Goni, will arrive at the Nore at an early date with over 1300 officers and men to man the fleet of warships building for Chile at the works of Lairds and Armstrongs. She will remain at Sheerness until the new vessels are ready for their respective crews." The Angamos sailed from Plymouth for Chile on 22 March 1897.
