A 12x10 negative. A slightly distant starbnoard near broadside view, taken from just ahead of the beam, of the general cargo steamship Appomattox (1893) at anchor in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has horse stalls amidships and she is prapring to weigh anchor. An unidentified Gamecock steam Towing Co screw tug has taken her bow line and is keeping it taut. Tilbury is in the background.
