Assaye (1899)
A 12x10 negative. A slightly distant port near broadside view, taken from just ahead of the beam, of the passenger/cargo liner/troopship Assaye (1899) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has a black hull with white riband and is flying the blue peter with a Royal Mail pennant above it. A lighter is alongside working cargo at number 2 hold and the tug Guiana (1885) is alongside the accommodation ladder amidships. The tug has her port anchor down. It is low tide. Tilbury is in the background.
